How to develop your career? Be know more about yourself.


In order to help you understand where you have to start for your career, please answer each of the following statements as you can.

  • What are your major strengths and weaknesses.
  • List at least five job skills and abilities that you have.
  • List down your work values and attitudes.
  • What are your interests.
  • What are your personality preferences are as related to your work environment.
Section 2 Career Exploration
  • Name at least three industries and/or five job titles that might be a good match for you.
  • Name at least five types of employers that might hire a person with your qualifications.
  • Describe what others workers do in the occupations in which you are interested.
  • Describe if you have interviewed three or more people in the occupations that interest you.
  • Identify three or more resources to help you find information about occupations, employers, and job listings.
Section 3 Decision-Making (TRUE / FALSE)
  • I have made a career choice and I\'m confident it is right for me.
  • I know how to evaluate if a position is the right fit for me.
  • I know when it is time to re-evaluate my career goal.
  • I re-assess my career and life goals each year.
  • I am comfortable with the idea of changing my career choice at a later date.
Section 4 Job Search / Self-Marketing
  • How do you find your prepared a resume /CV, and how it has been reviewed by a friend, colleague, or career counselor; are you confident in your ability to write avariety of application letters/materials (e.g. cover letter, portfolio, etc.).
  • Why are you interested in working for each prospective employer/organization and how do you familiar with its organizational structure/services/programs/mission.
  • List ten or more resources to help you identify job vacancies.
  • What questions employers are likely to ask you in an interview, and how is you confidence level in talking about your skills and abilities.
  • List down your collected and organized list of people who may be able to help you withyour job search.

Interpreting your scores:

Ideally, you would have answered all five statements for each section. This would suggest that you have achieved a high level of competence in your personal careerdevelopment. However, most individuals will find that they need more information inorder to feel confident with their career objectives. If you answered less than 3 out of 5 forany of the sections, you would benefit from reviewing that respective section.
